THE OAK BARN
A lovely free standing two storey Oak Barn, available for 7 nights letting or longer for up to four persons, self-catering, own parking beside and an enormous lawn at the south facing front which runs down to the lakes with views of Hop Gardens and Vineyards, not a road in sight in the heart of an area of outstanding beauty.
The Kitchen
A fully equipped Smallbone Kitchen, a cooks heaven! Complete with a Lacanche range cooker, gas top, electric fan oven and second electric oven. Microwave/combe oven, freestanding Red Smeg fridge with ice box inside, Miele dishwasher, Magimix, electric hand whisk and smoothy maker, Porsche filter coffee maker and several sizes of cafetiere’s, tea pots, toaster and kettle, Miele washing machine with a Miele dryer beside. A large selection of pots and pans, oven dishes , trays and lots of knives and utensils. Cups, mugs, bowls and plates, glasses, jugs and cutlery and of course the kitchen sink!!
You just need to bring all your favourite ingredients, tea and coffee and charcoal (barbecue) for a lovely holiday.
The Dining and Lounge Area
There is a further cloakroom off the hall complete with an antique thunderbox. From the hallway the staircase winds down to the living area with timbered ceiling and travatine floors throughout, large ‘L’ shaped couch and two whicker arm chairs, a delightful ancient wheat thrasher for a coffee table, in front of a cosy woodburner for those colder evenings and a large screened smart TV and internet throughout the property.
There is large old pine farmhouse dining table and chairs beside an enormous old painted pine side board and a roll top desk to work at if required and a huge wall mural of the farm.
The Bedrooms & Bathrooms
The property is extremely well furnished throughout as you can see in the photos. There are two large bedrooms, Bedroom 1 has a french antique Emperor bed with a vi-spring mattress, thats even bigger than a superking, and a room big enough to house it!
Plenty of room for a large chaise lounge and a modest desk / dressing table. En-suite is a bathroom with shower , basin and loo.
Across the hall is the second bedroom, barely smaller, with an extra large superking bed, fabulous mattress, chaise lounge and dressing table, high ceiling and exposed oak beams and windows on south and north side. Bathroom en-suite with both shower and roll top bath, loo and basin all tiled out with travetine.
NEW THIS YEAR – WE HAVE ADDED AIR CONDITIONING TO BOTH BEDROOMS.
Outside
With large byfolding French doors that open out onto your terrace which has a teak dining table with umbrella under the wooden pergalo wound with growing vines and wisteria. To complete there are sunlougers for your lawn and a webber barbecue with helpful book to assist with some inspiring recipes.
There is no fencing to spoil your view of the lovely lakes and the countryside beyond, apart from a distant windmill the aspect is hop gardens and vineyards, giant Oak trees and greenery, all to entise you down for a stroll around the lakes or a refreshing swim in for the more adventerous (at your own risk).
You just need to bring yourselves and all your favourite foods, tea and coffee and charcoal for a lovely holiday!!
